The German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) supports measures for the use of renewable energy in the context of the Market Incentive Programme (MAP) from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
The aim of the support is to boost the sale of renewable energy technologies on the market and to improve their economic efficiency.
With the internet-based German Federal Government's Funding Database, the federal government provides an extensive and up-to-date overview of the funding programmes from the government itself, the various German federal states and the European Union.
The funding activities are summarised on the basis of uniform criteria and presented in a consistent form independent of the funding levels or the providers of the funds. Doing so, the connections between the individual programmes are shown, which are important for the efficient use of the state funding.
Measures to improve the environmental situation in Berlin can be funded via the Environmental Relief Programme II (UEP II), the successor programme to UEP I, in the years from 2007 to 2013. The intention is to implement environmental relief measures to an extent of €160.8 million by means of the UEP II.
The UEP II is co-financed with resources from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Federal State (Land) of Berlin supports a varied range of activities to benefit the environment. One special focus of the UEP II is on the connection between environmental protection and technological innovations. The aims of the Environmental Relief Programme include an improvement in the environmental situation in Berlin, an increase in the environmentally compatible growth of Berlin's economy and the stabilisation of sustainable employment. Investments in residential construction are excluded from the funding.
